Emma Gordon and “Chicago Fire” back at BAM!

Actors Emma Gordon and Chris Stolte were back at BAM Studios along with newcomer Lance Newton for more dialogue recording on NBC’s new hit series “Chicago Fire”. BAM’s engineers Brian Reed and Philip von During were once again at the console. “Chicago Fire” follows the lives of the men and women of the Chicago Fire Department. The show is produced by Wolf Films, creator of NBC’s “Law & Order”, and debuts in September only on NBC.

BAM upgrades Studio C with Digidesign’s ICON mixing console.

BAM Studios recently finished an upgrade to their Studio C audio suite with a purchase of Avid-Digidesign’s ICON D-Command ES mixing console. This is BAM’s third D-Command install and is setup identically to the consoles in the other two audio suites. The control room has been up and running for a few weeks now and BAM’s engineers are very happy about the sound of the room and compatibility between all three suites. BAM mixer Dave Leffel adds, “it’s nice to be able to work on projects in any room and have the same setup and feel”. The upgrade also adds 5.1 surround sound monitoring to Studio C utilizing the BAM endorsed Genelec speaker system. “I’ve loved the Genelec brand since the hand-made speakers were first introduced in the US back in the 80′s.” says owner Brian Reed. Stedman Graham records at BAM Studios!

Best selling author and educator Stedman Graham visited BAM Studios to record a live interview with best selling author Lisa Oz. The new radio show “Inspired Living with Lisa Oz” was conducted via both ISDN and Skype in conjunction with ABC News in New York and BAM recording engineer Brian Reed in Chicago. The project was coordinated by Waterfront Media Group. Stedman Graham is the author of numerous books, most recently “Identity: Your Passport to Success” which was released in April 2012. His company S. Graham & Associates (SGA) is a management and marketing consulting company who specialize in corporate and educational markets. A “New Girl” at BAM?

Actually it was actor Jake M. Johnson from Fox’s hit TV show “New Girl” who stopped in at BAM Studios for some ADR recording for their season’s final episode. On the show Jake plays Nick, the most grounded of the roommates…and also the most jaded. As a law school dropout, he spends most of his time hiding his feelings under his hood, tending bar at Clyde’s and focusing on fantasy football. In real life, he was pretty darn cool to BAM engineers Dave Leffel and Philip von During. Could a man crush have been started?

ABC shoots “Dream Job” at BAM with Dave Leffel

Jim Connors of Buffalo, New York spent the morning at BAM Studios exploring his “Dream Job” as a voiceover actor thanks to ABC7 Chicago and BAM voice specialist Dave Leffel. Morning Show anchor Hosea Sanders interviewed Dave about his career as an engineer and voiceover actor, then the film crew captured the entire voice coaching and recording process with Jim and Dave while working on a variety of commercial spots. The program was videotaped throughout BAM’s facility but focused in Studio B control room and VO booth. ABC’s “Dream job” segment will air the week of May 7th on The Morning Show. Specific date and time to be determined.

“The Firm” actor Martin Donovan at BAM!

Martin Donovan of NBC’s hit show “The Firm” was back at BAM Studios for an ADR session with engineer Dave Leffel. The Vancouver based actor is known for his film collaborations with Hal Hartley as well as numerous other films and TV series including “Weeds”, “Natural History”, and “The Ghost Whisperer”. Martin is currently hanging around Chicago filming Season II of “Boss”.

BAM is Always mixing!

BAM sound designer Dave Leffel recently completed a new web spot campaign for Always with agency Digitas Chicago and post house Protokulture.

The “Stop the Padness” campaign was created for the New Always Securely Fits Maxi pad and shows humorous ways women “check” for leaks. The project consisted of three spots with English and Spanish versions recorded, sound design and mixed at BAM.
